So I'm finally getting back into watching Battlestar Galactica. I've made it through episode 6 of the current season and, I have to say, I'm not thrilled with President Roslin. I won't spoil anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but I'm just not happy with her anymore. I hope they'll fix that before the end.

In a completely different direction, I'm completely caught up on Doctor Who (thank you [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt) and just could not love this show any more without exploding from it. I really didn't think that I was going to like Donna at all, but I've been very surprised by her.

That's really all I'm watching right now as I wait for Stargate: Atlantis to come back to us.

In real life news, I've been working a lot lately. Corporate screwed us all over by changing not only our budget, but how our budget is determined. What this means to me, which we all know is the most important thing, is that now the managers (of which I am one of four) have to take up all the slack on shifts that we can no longer afford to schedule associates to work. Ever tried to close down a really big retail store with yourself and one other employee? If not, just trust me that it isn't fun.

I've been reading a lot lately too. I've decided to get caught up on the Inheritance trilogy, what with the upcoming release of Brisingr. I also picked up the first book in Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire series, Dead Until Dark.

Dead Until Dark, I'm actually enjoying. I hadn't expected to like it, but am pleasantly surprised to find myself drawn into the story and actually rooting for the main pairing, which is het *gasp*.

Eldest, I'm not enjoying quite so much. I don't know if it's because it's so wordy or the fact that he jumps between the different story arcs like a kid in a room full of cracks. (step on a crack, break your mother's back reference for you) Either way, it's very slow going, but I'm determined to get through it so I can get to Brisingr, once it's released, which I've been told is expected to be much more interesting than either of it's predecessor's and will, hopefully, tie things up nicely.

Now, thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt, I want to get a copy of Luck in the Shadows by Lynn Flewelling and get started on that series. Unfortunately, no bookstore in town carries it, so I'll have to wait until my new debit card arrives so I can get it from Amazon.com.

That's pretty much it on the update of my life. I've spiraled up out of my descent into depression, so you may be seeing me around more. I won't promise (or threaten) it, but I'm hoping to be. I miss my ljbuddies.
